U17s DEFENDERS NETBALL CLINIC – FOOTSCRAY

Designed specifically for developing netball athletes aged 15–16 years, this 1-hour clinic focuses on developing the defensive skills, movement and decision-making required to become a stronger and more effective defender.

The session is suitable for GK, GD, WD and defensive C players, with athletes challenged through position-specific movements, defensive combinations and game-based drills.

ATHLETES WILL WORK ON:

• Defensive footwork, speed and agility

• One-on-one defence and body positioning

• Tracking and shutting down attacking movement

• Reading play and creating intercept opportunities

• Closing space and applying defensive pressure

• Clean hands-over pressure and contesting

• Rebounds and aerial ball contests

• Defensive combinations, switches and communication

• Through-court defence and transition

• Position-specific skills for GK, GD, WD and C

Athletes will learn how to use their speed, footwork, body positioning and defensive awareness to disrupt attacking play and create more opportunities to win possession.

Our goal is to develop defenders who can confidently apply pressure, read the game, work effectively within a defensive unit and create turnovers against strong attacking players.
